The Mississippi Delta is not a typical end in the Democratic presidential circuit that is primary. But there is Senator Elizabeth Warren, for a bright Monday early morning, winding her means via a neighbor hood of worn-down shotgun homes in Cleveland, skip.

“It won’t leave my head plus it won’t leave my heart,” she told Willie Simmons, a situation senator who had been providing Ms. Warren a trip, even as we stepped by burned-out houses, trash-filled yards and empty lots.

The final time a major presidential prospect stopped in Cleveland had been 1967, whenever Robert F.
